Our History

We entered the basin in December 2010. All of our operations are located on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation. Today we have approximately 85,000 net acres under lease.

As of year-end 2015, we have proved reserves of 93 million barrels of oil equivalent in the Williston Basin. WPX completed 34 gross (21 net) oil wells in 2015. This compares with 53 gross (45 net) for full-year 2014.

Williston oil volumes increased 12 percent in 2015 to an average of 21,800 barrels per day. The production stream is approximately 85 percent oil.

Committed to North Dakota and the Three Affiliated Tribes

Supporting worthy causes is part of who we are. We’ve provided emergency-related equipment for Elbowoods Memorial Healthcare Center. We’ve contributed to the Four Bears Community playground and bought a van for the Boys and Girls Club of the Three Affiliated Tribes. We’ve also provided support to the Three Affiliated Tribes Fire Management Program, Employee Appreciation Day and the Red Sage Organization for economic and community development. Plus, we made a major contribution to the North Dakota Housing Incentive Fund to help build affordable housing. We want to be difference-makers in the community.

Environmental Commitment

We’re committed to the environment in North Dakota. We helped launch an industry cooperative to protect Lake Sakakawea from the risk of spills.
